Stal Het Oosterbrook
At Stal Het Oosterbrook, we specialize in training young horses for successful sports careers. A standout example is Joel and Gert-Jan, who competed on the Dutch Championship team for seven consecutive years, participating in European and World Championships, and even the Olympics. Their success highlights the dedication and skill involved in our training.
Our training philosophy prioritizes a playful, fair, and horse-friendly approach, focusing on the horse’s well-being. This ensures our horses are not only enjoyable to work with but also easier to ride. In the Netherlands, horses can compete in showjumping from age of four, but at Stal Het Oosterbrook, we emphasize relaxed, non-compulsory training, allowing young horses to feel at ease and develop independent thinking.
Our facilities include pasture time, trail rides, a water treadmill, horse treadmill, and paddocks, all designed to foster confident, high-performing sport horses.
In 2010, Stal Het Oosterbrook relocated to a modern facility in De Lutte, providing an ideal environment for both horses and staff.
Stables
- 40 boxes in two aisles, all with windows
- 6 run in Stables foe our jong horses
- 15 acres with pastures, meadows, 6 sand and 6 grass paddocks
- bright, modern indoor riding arena, 22 x 65 meter
- large jumping arena in a pentagon form with a ebb and flow system
- water treadmill
- two horse walkers, one of them with an internal lunge area
At Stal Het Oosterbrook, we pride ourselves not only on our modern pastures, paddocks, and wellness facilities but also on the thoughtful design of the finer details that enhance the daily life of our horses. For example, our unique hay racks extend vertically from top to bottom, allowing horses to feed at their preferred height while minimizing dust, which falls harmlessly to the ground instead of on the horse.
Additionally, our feeding troughs are positioned at the end of each stall, unlike conventional front-facing designs. This layout requires our caregivers to enter the stall for every feeding, ensuring each horse receives individual attention. This approach allows us to monitor their well-being closely and immediately address any concerns.
At Stal Het Oosterbrook, we see our horses as true partners in sport, not just equipment, and believe in providing them with the highest level of care and attention to ensure their health and happiness.
Aquatraining
Aquatraining is an effective and safe way to train and rehabilitate horses. At Stal Het Oosterbrook, we use a modern aquatrainer to optimize the condition, muscle development, and recovery process of our horses. This type of training provides a unique combination of movement and resistance through water, ensuring low impact on joints and tendons.
Benefits of Aquatraining for Horses
Improved Muscle Development: The resistance of the water during movement helps horses build muscle mass faster and more effectively without overstraining.
Joint-Friendly Training: The water supports the horse’s body, reducing the strain on joints. This makes it ideal for horses recovering from injuries or those looking to improve their fitness without the risk of overloading.
Recovery and Rehabilitation: Aquatraining speeds up the recovery process from injuries, offering continuous movement without the hard impact of traditional land-based training.
Enhanced Fitness: The use of an aquatrainer helps horses quickly improve their fitness. The training enhances cardiovascular health and strengthens muscles, preparing horses for better performance in sports.
